If you only want to keep a small amount of the ashes such as when the majority are to be scattered or buried elsewhere, or perhaps your loved ones ashes are to shared with other family members then a keepsake urn would be most suitable.  These come in various options such as traditional brass urns, jewellery, glass and scattering options to mention a few.

How to open and close an urn?

Every type of urn has different methods for opening and closing.  This will be mentioned within the item description.  If you are anyway unsure then please do not hesitate to contact us.

Who puts the ashes into my urn?

If you feel uneasy about laying your loved ones remains to rest in an urn or memorial product then please let us know.  We can deliver your item directly to your funeral director who can place the ashes within your chosen item.

What is a Keepsake Urn? This range holds a small amount of the ashes or a remembrance token such as a lock of hair or a small photograph. These products are useful when the majority of cremated are to be buried or scattered and someone wants a small part to keep close, also if multiple family members each want to have their own urn to keep or fulfil their wishes of laying to rest.

How do the ashes go into the keepsake? Your keepsake will have a threaded top or bottom that will allow you to fill your keepsake. If you feel uncomfortable doing this contact your funeral director who will be able to assist you.

How much of the ashes will fit into a keepsake? The interior cavity of your keepsake is very small approx 5cm by 5cm with a small opening to place the ashes into.

Pet Urns? All our urns can be used for holding the ashes of your companion pet, you can choose any of our range of urns or we also have a selection of urns specifically designed for your pet

How long will the urn take to break down when buried in the ground?

Our brass cremation urns will never breakdown in the ground, this makes them suitable for burying within your own land or plant pot with memorial shrub such as a rose as if you ever move home the remains will be held intact within the urn for moving to your new residence.  Wooden caskets and other biodegradable urns can take several months depending on local conditions. Generally the more moisture in the soil, the quicker the urn will biodegrade.

Will the urn biodegrade before I have time to bury or scatter? No, these biodegradable urns are designed to be durable in dry indoor conditions, thet will normally not start to break down until they are introduced the natural elements such as moisture and earth / water.

Can I travel on a plane with the urn? Yes, all of our Biodegradable urns are very durable and fine to travel with.  They are also scannable for airline security.  We recommend always carrying your urn within your hand luggage.  You will normally need a covering letter from your funeral director to confrim the contents of the urn along with the cremation certificate that is issued by the crematorium that carried out the cremation.  (Always check with the airline prior to flying as requirements may differ)
